When shooting inside a room with windows, there is LIGHT and SHADOW
- square down
- 測光 at a dark point, so as to set a right exposure
- try f8, f11
- try a few different settings
- EV (EXPOSURE VALUE) can be ISO / aperture / shutterspeed
- 1x EV (can be composed of ISO / aperture / shutter - each a little down)
- 2x EV (2 stop aperture down or 2 stop shutterspeed down or 1 stop of aperture + 1 stop of shutterspeed down)
When shooting in temple, look for window, i.e. the light source
When shooting right at the sun, LONG SHADOW of subject appears
When subject is placed right in front of the sunlight, shoot at 90 deg, sihouette of the subject comes out, especially profile of the nose.
SHOOTING AT INTERVAL - image shown is circular movement of leaves with multiple images of leaves
- firstly observe time needed for a leave to complete a circle (say, ca. 2 min)
- then design nbr of exposure needed for such an image
- set to shoot for 9 times exposure, each exposue lasts for 6 sec
- set to shoot the 1st and 2nd exposure at an interval of 15"
MULTIPLE EXPOSURE - various ways in achieving this by:
- shoot one at right, one at left; one at 70mm, one at 50mm (clear + blur)
- shoot one BIG, one small
- one blur, one clear by doing TWO separately, each with a totally different setting
- or, moving your tripod, or moving your 雲台
SUBJECT DISTANCE VARIES THE DEPTH OF FIELD
- long len - i.e. shooting butterflies or birds - achieving shallow depth of field. only the subject is clear, the background is all blurred
- wide angle len, small aperture and focus at a subject farther away - achieving 100% in focus
對焦 DISTANCE
- 對焦越近, 景深越淺; 對焦越遠, 景深越深
- push focus to backside in a frame, the wider the depth of field
- the closer the focus in a frame, the shallower of the depth of field
- coupled with a small aperture and focus at a point farther away, the wider the depth of field
SHOOTING RUNNING WATER AT TWO EXTREME SETTINGS TO SEE THE DIFFERENCE
- f/2.8, 1/1000" ---> freezing the motion of water
- f/22, 2.5" -----> silky water
SHOOTING ACTION ON STAGE
- 1/8", 1/10" -------> slow
- 1" -------> try shooting walking in action in MTR platform
SHUTTER PRIORITY
- + 爆光補償 because picture will come out either ALL BLACK or ALL WHITE
- must either ADD EV (+1 or +2); or
- minus EV (-1 or -2)
- must do MANUALLY
ONE MORE ANGLE
- always try different angles ---> high / low / under
- ------> right / left / middle
- ------> 90 deg / 180 deg
- resulting in different output which will surprise you !
DIFFERENT SEASONS
Fall / winter - ---> lower angle of sunray ----> brings a long shadow
Sunrise / sunset -------> low angle of light source ----> best time of day in taking pictures
SHOOTING ROUND SUBJECTS -----> best is half in light / half in shadow
SHOOTING ANIMALS ----> e.g. sheeps, being able to bring a brime outlining the shape of animal.
LIGHT / SHADOW -------> pay attention to shadows
