Battery
- For new batteries, better to fully charged it, then use it till flat before re-charging it again. Do it a few times to allow it to run smoothly. Thereafter, it is ok not to re-charge it fully before use, or re-charge it mid-way.
- Memory card 16 GB up, and pay attention to the speed. Higher the speed, more expensive the price, e.g. 95 mb per sec
- Reformat a NEW card before use in the camera that you are going to use.
- Always save pictures in computer hard driver or external hard drive for back up.
- Reformat used disk card before use
- Teacher used to save pictures in three separate external hard disk, sorting by date, by countries, and by event for easy retrieval.
- ND filter - neutral density filter - for use in shooting waterfall, stream, i.e. slow motion subject.
- Waterfall - best to shoot half an hour before sunset to avoid over-exposure. Set at least 1s shutter, small aperature f/11, and ISO at 100 ---> little light, longer exposure
- Portriat - e.g. standing by window, or door, or where light comes in, be sure NOSE of subject is receiving light. Never use flash, which resulted in red-eyed.
- Subject sitting by the window, looking into the light, shoot at a 90 deg angle between direction of light onto the subject and the camera, or more than 90 deg ----> HOMEWORK. It results in a strong three-dimentional contrast.
- It works even under overcasting weather. ISO up / Aperture up
- Indoor - ISO up, no flash, looking at direction of light - Aperture f/2.8
- Insect, butterfly, moving object - shutter speed up - e.g. insect ISO 640; butterfly ISO1000
- When indoor, look for where light comes in i.e. door, window, semi-transparent windows diffusing colours
- Light outside is plenty more than inside. ISO 250, Aperature f/2.8 et al
- Shoot action -> ISO up 320; Shutter speed up
- ISO has three charactertics - contrast of dim / brightness; degree of colour; and noises
- When shoot against light - > ISO up 320 etc
- When indoor, look for a door / window to shoot, to show contrast
- Shoot moving subjects, at a longer shutter, resulted in 鬼影
- Shutter controls motion -> freeze motion or slurry motion / amount of light in
- ISO controls noises / amount of light in
- Can manipulate either or both to control amount of light in
- Indoor ISO up, e.g. 2000
- When shooting with long len e.g. 500m, handshake is likely, so adjust Shutter Speed up e.g. ISO 1000
- VR Vibration Resistant
- Magic moment - 30 min before sunset. Twilight photographing ISO 800 to 1,600 - best is to take picture of buildings.
- Outdoor at night (no flash) - shoot reflection after rain at night. ISO up 1,600
- Dim light environment, e.g. candle light -> up ISO to 2000 etc
- Shoot flying birds in action -> up ISO 2500, shutter speed 1/3200
- Action in sport -> up ISO
- 愉影 ----> quick in action so up ISO
